Mann, Ken

A driving force in Lancaster, Ken Mann's sustained dedication to the community is nothing short of commendable. First stepping into the City Council in April 2008, his leadership saw him re-elected in subsequent years: April 2012, April 2016, and April 2020.

In his role as Councilmember, Mann is instrumental in various city projects and initiatives. He's a Board Member of the Lancaster Successor Agency and plays a vital role in the City’s Housing, Financing, and Power Authorities. Further expanding his reach, he's a Member of the Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District’s Governing Board, an active Board Member of the North Los Angeles County Transportation Coalition (NCTC), and holds chair positions for both the Board of Directors of Los Angeles County Sanitation District No. 14 and the Lancaster Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, known as Destination Lancaster. His community-centric mindset has also led him to become the Council liaison for Lancaster’s Neighborhood Watch program.

Before his impactful journey in the City Council, Mann was already shaping the face of Lancaster through his long-standing role as a business owner and land developer. His visionary approach to development, combined with his deep understanding of community needs, made him a sought-after figure in the City's growth. His contributions to the Lancaster Planning Commission, starting from 1992, further showcase his commitment to structured and sustainable growth.

In parallel, Mann's journey in the hospitality industry is equally inspiring. From humble beginnings as a part-time kitchen staff, he rose to eminent positions in restaurant management and consultancy, notably for major brands such as Denny’s Corporation.

Mann's unwavering commitment to Lancaster is evident in the numerous community projects he's been a part of. His leadership roles in the United Way, Children’s Center of Antelope Valley, and Boy Scouts of America have left a lasting impact. Additionally, his involvement with Desert Haven Enterprises and the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce underscores his multifaceted contributions to the community.

Born in Hawthorne, California, Mann has made Lancaster his home since the age of 4. Amidst his professional strides, he's also nurtured a loving family, meeting his wife in Lancaster and raising three children together.
